Threw away $8.00 last night in one stupid move

Salmon was on sale for $7.99 a lb and I bought a 21/2 lb piece and cooked half of it and ate it on Friday. Then I cooked the other half because raw salmon will only stay fresh in the refrigerator for
1-2 days but cooked salmon won’t go bad for 3-4 days.

Well, I put it in a plastic container and then I was organizing my half of the refrigerator last night and I opened a container I thought had six day old chicken in it and threw it away. Then. I looked for my salmon but couldn’t find it. I thought my roommate ate it but when he got home an hour later he swore he didn’t . That’s when I realized that was salmon I threw in the trash, not chicken. $8.00 wasted. I’ll try to buy more tomorrow.

Ditto. I have a couple of rolls of masking tape and Sharpies in the kitchen drawer and everything going in the fridge gets a label with a date. It’s something that stuck with me from my chef training.
