Maybe it’s your algorithm but there are some cool people on it imo.

I like TikTok. I especially like the live DJs.
One drawback is that it really shortens your attention span.
The filters are fun and people get really creative with trends. I like seeing how different people use the same sounds. There’s a lot of great stuff on there.
The algorithm is an experience for sure. It’s powerful.
I think my perception of TikTok was neutral to negative before I actually spent some time on there.

Also, TikTok is a mood booster for me. Maybe it’s because of the short dopamine hits. I would miss it if it were gone!

I highly prefer YouTube. I like longer videos (10 minutes minimum) and think that heavy focus on super short content is bad for our attention spans.
I’m ambivalent on whether or not to support it because I want to support all content creators but at the same time, I really don’t care for it.

Whaaat? Lol it’s such an amazing medium. I don’t understand the hate but I guess I had to look away from a lot of twerking butts to get a good algorithm going.

People will just sideload it.
It’s like cigarettes if you tell kids not to do something, they want to do it more.
Banning something without showing proof will make people mad.

One more thing I thought of… I hate YouTube shorts, and they are mostly made to compete with TikTok. I’m scared if TikTok gets banned they’ll all migrate to YouTube and fill the platform with shorts. That vertical format hurts my eyes!

I prefer to search for what i want to view rather than some algorithm feeding me random stuff it thinks i might like. But i admit i do sometimes just scroll through reels. Makes me feel weird if i do it for a while. Like i feel a bit brain damaged if i just go through reels or tiktoks for an hour or more. So i only do it sometimes. Mainly to share some likes back and forth between me and my gf. Some of them are hilarious though.

The only good thing is they are short, but because of that there is too much. I feel the same way about instagram and steam

I deleted it recently
I only used it for a little while
I refuse to install the app for security reasons. The videos I have been sent are the same mundane stuff that also pollute YouTube and I can live without.
