Thoughts on abilify?

I think of trying it next month, share your stories. How about weight gain? Extrapiramidal effect? Akathesia? Diskine tardiva? Any side effects?

Do you mean Abilify? Personally it didn’t work for me. I made my depressive symptoms worse and i had to switch to something else. It is supposed to be fairly good for weight gain, not one of those that causes you to gain heaps. And the side effects are supposed to be minimal…but having said that everyone is different. It’s worth a go. For some people it works really well.

Why it didn’t work?

No idea. I guess it just wasn’t processed well by my body. All i know is that when i started it my depression worsened considerably.

It’s a good med that works for me. I’ve barely gained weight and really it was weight that i needed anyway. It’s not sedating but very stimulating and could lead to akathisia. I take a med called Artane to knock that out, so that combination works very well for me.

Also…i can still use my head and see the truth instead of being put into a foggy haze that’s impossible to see through.

I’m on Abilify. I haven’t gained weight, I have a bit tremble in my hands and I always feel so tired.

Works well for me, been on it for over a year

It gave me tardive dykenesia.

For me Abilify is the best antipsychotic. I have tried others and they didn’t work. For me it doesn’t matter if it makes me feel tired. The most important is that I’m ok.

Is being sedated a good thing for anxiety?

I don’t have anxiety.

I’ve been tried on several APs, and Abilify has been the best one for me. It has never caused me to gain weight, and I don’t experience any other side effects. Like someone else said, though, everyone is different.

It ■■■■■■ me up badly after just one low dose pill, although there was a delay of about 12 hrs before it started wrecking me when i went to bed that night (i took it mid morning), just after i layed down to sleep my brain started making creaking noises and then i felt intense nausea in my brain only which was utterly horrible, i didn’t sleep much and by the morning i felt like i had the flu, also had strong pain in the roof of my mouth which spread to my whole face, amidst these effects i was driven to get out of bed by an intense hunger, however when i sat down to eat i started hyperventilating and got little shocks in my hands and due to the sheer level of agonism it was causing at this point instead of eating i was reaching out to thin air with my arms whilst crying and moaning, i was putting bits of food in my mouth but was in such a state i couldn’t chew or swallow it, a family member had to help calm me down and after this episode i started to slowly come out of the whole ordeal. unsurprisingly i did not continue to take it, i do wonder though if i had stuck it out and continued taking it if it would have actually been the best one for me long term due to it having the most extreme breakthrough side effects.

Second this, gave me tardive dyskinesia. Now my mouth and tongue move funny and it keeps me up at night.

It caused me to binge eat til I’d get sick

I had a hard time with waking up in the middle of the night. It did help me quit vaping for 36 days. Simply because vi couldn’t breathe.

there’s a new med for tardive dyskinesia, have you heard of it? I forget the name, it’s a hard one.
