I am on a prescription drug called famotidine for acid reflux. I think there are several types of acid reflux medicines you can choose from. My insurance covers it. I told my doctor that I don’t want to take Prilosec if I can avoid it because your body becomes dependent on it.

I too take famotidine. 2o mg in the morning and then again at night. I think it works really well. Without it I gag up stomach acid. At night the acid comes up and I choke on it. That’s even happened in the day when I was standing there during the day.

This reminds me when I was on a forensic ward.

I had heart burn and they gave me this massive Gaviscon tablet.

Didn’t realise it was supposed to be chewed, so I swallowed it whole

Got stuck in my throat, and they refused to get me a fizzy drink, so I had to wait for it to dissolve

Lol.

But yea, pain in the ass heart burn

I have Rennies for it now

Ask for a proton pump prohibitor if you’re not on one right now. It was the end of heartburn for me.

Now that I am older, I now get massive heartburn every evening despite taking Pantoprazole twice a day. I take Tums for it as needed.
