Thinking of asking my pdoc about Trintellix or Strattera

The APs I currently take daily are 80 mg Geodon and 2.5 mg Risperidone.

I had mixed reactions to ADs in the past, including occasional suicidal thoughts with Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, and Lexapro, and improved mood, cognition, and anxiety/OCD with Zoloft.

The FDA indicates black box warnings for SSRIs in the treatment of those under 25 years. Soon, I will become 26, and hopefully, SSRI-induced suicidal thoughts will no longer be a problem.

On the day of my appointment, I might ask my pdoc about Trintellix (AD) or Strattera (SNRI) for the improvement of my negative and cognitive symptoms.

I asked my Dr about Strattera and she recommended me Modafinil.

Were you prescribed either of the two?

I am in the process of switching to Clozapine as she said its best for negative symptoms. Then I will try Modafinil.

Just as an FYI. Trintellix increased my liver enzyme levels and I had to stop taking it. I have had no experience with Strattera.

I think the biggest improvement in negative symptoms come from changing APs.

I somewhat agree, as I have noticed slightly more motivation during the cross-tapering to Geodon. Risperidone makes me blunted and unmotivated.

Yea thats what I am on 6mg. Dr said it blocks too much dopamine in all the brain whereas Clozapine acts more on Serotonin. Idk if she’s 100% right but I am switching anyways, I hope Clozapine is better than Risperdal for negative symptoms. I already tried Abilify, Seroquel, Zyprexa, Latuda and Risperdal.

trintellix is an ad, but strattera is a stimulant for adhd, i dont think itd be helpful for depression and might be a risk for sz

I was considering Strattera, as my pdoc recently asked me if I had been previously diagnosed with ADHD after I told her about my cognitive symptoms. Is it commonly known to cause psychosis? I have more knowledge about ADs than ADHD medication in general.

Interesting… I assumed Clozapine had stronger dopamine antagonism, as it is considered one of the “stronger” APs.
