Thinking about getting a vasectomy

I have Medicare and Medicaid. I’m not sure if that would cover one. I would just tell them I don’t want to pass schizoaffective disorder to a child.

Just reading this about medicaid and sterilization.

I would like to be sterilised too tbh. The thought of fatherhood is probably my biggest fear.

Do you have many sporadic dates?

I don’t go on many dates.

I’m sure it would be covered. I hear it’s a very simple outpatient procedure. Leaves a bit of tenderness for a couple days but nothing major. Still able to get up and walk around and such.

I had a friend get it done and he was back at work the next day.

Do you get knocked out for the procedure?

I’m not sure. I can ask.

Insurance may or may not cover a vasectomy. Of course, that depends on the specific policy of a health insurance; so, check yours out. Usually, health insurance would not cover vasectomy reversal. You may call the Health Department of your State for such inquiry or nearby well reputable vasectomy clinic to explain the your personal financial or insurance difficulty. Potentially, you may find one who may trust you and do it for you if you’re trustworthy and sign out OR consent for not suing vasectomy surgeon for any consequence. Unfortunately, the US society has made mutual trust disappear; but try.

Always consider vasectomy as a permanent procedure although its reversal is possible but with high cost - usually not covered by insurance.

So, for men young, think twice before proceeding with it. Knowing more on vasectomy, go to articles in http://formefirst.com/Aboutvasectomy.htm.

My friend said no. They use a local and it’s really fast.

Thanks @LED. So local just means they numb the pain?

Yeah. They use a local anesthetic. A few injections. That’s it.

A “local” anesthetic is a numbing agent that acts to deaden the nerves in the area that it is injected into.

In the use of local anesthesia only a small area of the body is deadened. The patient will remain awake while the operation is performed.

In general anesthesia the entire body is placed in a state of deep sleep. In this way the body is protected while the surgeon operates. The patient has no knowledge of what is going on.

@InnerCircle so trust meaning that I am getting a vasectomy for the right reason? If I were to say the voices would leave me alone if I got a vasectomy the doctor’s wouldn’t trust me?

I’m already sterilized. All the meds diminish my sex drive.

I think they were right to force sterilization on szs and other people with bad disorders in the past.

By “trust” I mean agreements between patients and physicians in which the patient agrees not to sue the doctor if medical complications arise.

I dunno. While you have the right to sterilize yourself, I disagree with the whole passing on your curse narrative that seems to go on around these sorts of discussions around here. Even my sister is afraid she’ll pass on a curse to her children, because she’s afraid they’ll be like my brother or me. It’s a terrible thing

If you don’t want children and think you’d be a bad father, then you should get the procedure. If you know you’d love your children and give them a good home regardless of whatever faults they develop (Believe me, they’ll be imperfect.) then you ought to give yourself the chance.

This is not specifically geared toward @TheBest but anyone who has doubts about the sutiability of their genes. Just my opinion, though.
