Think twice before using DoorDash.com

I’ve ordered food using them about 5 or 6 times. I’ve never been happy with them. Not only is the delivery fee too much but they tack on a “service fee”. It’s usually about four bucks, I’m not sure what it’s for. And they make a tip mandatory.

I’ve ordered pizza twice and I’ve shelled out as much as $30-$40. Part of the problem is not their fault, pizzas are ridiculously over-priced these days. I used to have a Round Table pizza parlor 5 minutes from my house in high school. We could walk over occasionally and buy a pizza for $10.00-$15.00.

I don’t why or when the cost of a pizza skyrocketed but when we bought pizza as a kid you felt satisfied and like you got a good deal and you felt you got your moneys worth. Nowadays I always feel like I’m getting ripped off when I order a pizza. And with DoorDash that feeling just compounds itself.

Is the quarantine stuff still happening there? That would drive delivery prices up.

Doordash is definitely expensive

COVID has had the effect of inflating food prices. Costs money to space people out in meat packing plants to meet distancing requirements. Install plexi sneeze panels. Double or triple cleaning. Upgrade the building air handling system. Buy your staff masks, face shields, and sanitizer by the barrel. To have plants shut down for days and then need extensive cleaning whenever someone tests positive. Gotta pay more to get things through tight borders.

Yeah, we’re going to be paying more for food going forward. If you want cheap pizza you may have to make your own.

Yeah, you guys are right, I didn’t associate their high fees with the COVID-19 situation. But it’s a rip-off just the same.

Do you have a Papa Murphy’s Take N Bake pizza place in your area? It’s quite reasonably priced and you bake it at home so that eliminates any possible COVID cooties.

I make mini pizzas…takes about 8 minutes.

Half a bunch of bagels…add cheese and pepperoni, then spag sauce…into the oven till the cheese melts.

Voila!

Last time I used it, it was 4$ just like Uber eats.
All food delivery services have higher food prices than going by yourself to the restaurent.
Its normal.

You haven’t seen what the DoorDash drivers pay for car insurance. UberEats, Door Dash, and Skip the Dishes are all considered super high risk because they’re time-sensitive deliveries not on a regular/scheduled route. That means a lot more accidents and losses for that class of business. Most of the regular market companies hate this type of risk and many are dropping them, forcing drivers to go to Facility. Facility is an “all comers” market for those who have no other options, but it costs five to fifteen times as much as a regular policy.

I don’t think the current delivery model is financially sustainable.

You can still get a pizza at Little Ceasars for less than $10. I go get them though. Haven’t ever had one delivered. It’s not close to my house.

We live right by a Domino’s and they advertise cheap pizzas but what I get is always much more expensive.

The pizza at Costco is pretty good too.

I miss Godfathers.

the Chinese place i order from do their own deliveries, i think its a family thing so I order from them. I stopped ordering pizza cause I eat it all then end up puking lol

I’ve never had a pizza from Costco. Is it bakery style?

I only order delivery from yello sub ( its a local sandwich shop ) because they don’t charge delivery fees so I just tip the driver. Pizza hut is a huge rip off stupidly expensive pizza and delivery fees plus tipping driver its like 30 bucks complete rip off

I had been planning on pizza for this evening, but… Still no bottom plate. I’m truly not in a good mood right now.

A friend used them for me when I was at the hospital with my son week before last. The guy wasn’t at either entrance and I ran between them all. He eventually said he left, but I never saw anyone with a bag.

It’s really good. And cheap

Everytime I tipped 5$ the GPS works promptly. When I don’t tip the god isn’t working right

We have an app for local pizza places called Slice you can download. They give 70% of the prices to the pizza place, a lot of places here refuse doordash because of their practices.

Eat street runs a special with Firehouse Subs here, no delivery fee and prices are same as in store, and you pick however much you want to tip.

Try looking g for Slice on your app store though, highly recommend them.
