Hubby and I were about to go to bed when he spotted this wild snake! We don’t know what kind of snake it is. Looks like a baby, though… maybe.
The snake was on the dog’s crate. I caught the snake and put it in a plastic tub.
Animal Control is closed until 10am, tomorrow. Not sure what to do.

Maybe not though. I think they typically have stripes

Yeah, Hubby Googled “garter snake” and this snake looks a little different. No back stripe.
I think we’ll just have to wait until morning and then call Animal Control, for advice on what to do.
I don’t want to harm the snake, but I also don’t want it coming back in, if we were to release it nearby.
I hope it’s not tiny enough to break out of the plastic tub, overnight.

In Australia they have this snake called the “King Brown Snake”. It is considered the second deadliest land snake in the world. And it has a hankering for human environments. It often gets in people’s houses, and they have to call experts to remove the beast. There are a lot of different species of deadly snake in Australia.

Don’t take them too far away. They will not know where to find food or water and will die.
Just let it go outside. Was probably cold. And that looks like a musk snake, thats what they call them here.

Thanks for the replies, guys. @Bowens @jukebox @crimby @LilyoftheValley @anon4362788 @GrayBear
Hubby released the snake somewhat nearby, but not too nearby. We still don’t know what species it was, but I assume it wasn’t dangerous, as the snake was super docile and chill.
Anyway, the snake is back outside.

Glad to hear that.
I do have to say I’m happy there are no snakes where I live. I’m kinda scared of them
