Therapy roadblock

I just became eligible for Medicare. It turns out my therapist doesn’t take Medicare. I had to pay $110 to see him today. Not going to do that very often.

Can he refer you to a therapist that accepts Medicare?

Can you ask your therapist for a better rate now that you are paying cash. Many have a sliding scale based on income.

They knew I was paying cash and didn’t offer me a discount. I made one more appointment for when I finish school to discuss whether or not I should go back to work

I could go back to the VA but I already left the VA. Don’t want to go back. I get better drugs on my insurance. I can still get my meds under my old insurance and don’t have to use Medicare.

Maybe I will find a new one that takes Medicare once I decide whether or not I am going to try to go back to work.

Thanks for the advice.

I just started seeing my old therapist from 4 years ago. The insurance website said she accepts my ins. but she was unsure. She put in through the system about 3 weeks ago and we’ve not heard back if I am covered for her. So it’ll be a pretty big bill if I’m not covered. She is worth it though since I’ve had such a tough time with therapists.
