I have been lucky enough to find a good therapist that I work well with. She is well experienced, and well-versed in a variety of illnesses.
She’s good at helping me maintain perspective, and question my assumptions. She also gives me a sense of validation as a person, and makes me realize that maybe things aren’t as bad as I thought
I wish you well if you decide to seek a therapist
With me, my therapist asks what is going on, listens, and offers feedback. There’s some constructive criticism at times. Mine is mostly like a trusted, good friend.
I don’t really find it very helpful. I guess it is nice to have someone to talk to and complain to though. But as far as good ideas for stuff, my therapist doesn’t really help. I’m already doing a lot of coping on my own. I was a Psych major so I learned a lot about coping strategies. I am putting them to use
@pasteyface would you care to share some of your coping strategies? I have some of my own, but always looking for new ones to help cope with this ■■■■
