'The Wall' cemented Pink Floyd's fame – but destroyed the band

Roger Waters is very talented but the more lax direction Pink Floyd took after his departure led to some underrated gems of albums imo.

i think if they hadn’t ganged up on Syd Barret then he wouldnt have become sz and may have taken the band further but we’ll never know, they made a lot of money off of the back of him

That’d be an interesting topic to explore in, say, a documentary or something.

Poor Syd had a hard life.

Very possible. I’ll have to do some research because I’d love to watch one.

Quite often i listen to Floyd. Not so keen on roger waters solo albums - but i do like David Gilmours stuff. Syd was an unmedicated Sz - that mashed his mind on drugs - i often wonder that if he had the correct Psych intervention, he would still be alive.

“High hopes” is one of my favourites when im having a pity party! lol.

I think you mean “Careful with that axe Eugene” !?? Or is there a cover im not aware of?

I was being silly

Oh right - Sorry , ive just got up so im slow this morning lol.

I’ve only been up just over 30 mins.

I really like Syd Barret

In my opinion “Dark Side of the Moon” cemented Pink Floyd’s fame. “The Wall” added some bricks.

I never got into Pink Floyd .‘Dark side of the Moon’ was very popular at school . I think PF would have gone in a completely different direction if he had not had his psych problems , and had stayed as the driving force behind the group.

I used to self-harm to PF’s the “The final cut” . It was like i was declaring to the world that i was in pain, whilst blaring it out. I havent cut for nearly 9 years now - thank god. All my scars are covered with tattoos now. I think thats where they got the initial diagnosis of Borderline PD from. Even listening to that album now on spotify can be triggering. :confounded:

I’ve still got marks from when I cut myself in 1975, although they’ve faded a little over time.
