when people talk about Syd Barret of Pink Floyd and how tragic it was when he lost his mind?
First I’ve heard of it. Can’t say it has any bearing on me.
if they aren’t biblical references, then call me the scarecrow of the Wizard of Oz 'cause I don’t know anything.
I liked his music, but without him losing his mind he would not be the same. Tragic yes, but also appreciated by millions.
It’s hard enough for all of us let alone being world famous and falling from such greatness/genius. The same can be said for Australian surfer Michael Peterson
I don’t know how they could’ve handled it
those are some good points. My personal feeling is that it wouldn’t be as hard as it was for some of us because their would always be people there (fans) to talk with.
Well, I hope this isn’t too cold. But at least his madness inspired two of the greatest albums of all time.
Yes indeed it did.
Ha @Hedgehog. Wrong album cover for the song, lol.
By the way, tonight I took a breather from all my problems and worries and right now I am comfortably dumb.
No need to reply then. I wasn’t trying to start a conversation
Well I only asked because it’s very similar to my own personal journey, minus the rockstar fame and the membership in one of the greatest bands of all time
I don’t think Syd could have even posted on this website he was so bad.
From what I’ve read, even though it is commonly thought that Syd Barret suffered from schizophrenia he was never officially diagnosed with it.
I just googled this guy. Very sad.
Doh! Posted a correction. One of my favorite songs, even though it’s sad. Thanks for the correction, @77nick77!
Before his diagnosis he was considered the best surfer in Australia in the 70’s. He wound up in something like a 15 car police chase during his acute episode. He was never the same again, stopped surfing, gained weight and passed away a few years ago. I had the pleasure of seeing him in the flesh the year before I was diagnosed while I was in Bali. I will never forget.
