Post what diet you’re trying and your goals and progress!!
My short term goal is to be back at a healthy weight meaning I need to lose about 10 lbs. My long term goal is to lose 30 lbs.
My first diet change is to cut out junk food (and replace it with healthier alternatives). That’s it. I’m not even counting calories right now I am just doing my best to not eat junk food. I’m also trying to cut out and reduce bladder irritants as part of my overactive bladder therapy. Wish me luck!!
I started running 1 km every day
I started eating only 2 meals
I started avoiding fat salt and sugar in excess
I started drinking only two lattes and 2 instant coffees.
Also no meals after 6, only fruit and a snack.
I lost a few pounds.
Are you exercising right now?
Yes one of my goals is to stop eating at night but right now I’m going to say I can eat at night if it’s healthy foods as I don’t want to drop a bunch of stuff cold turkey.
Just so you know I read recently that people are able to maintain stable weights if they eat a regular 3 meals per day, it messes with your body and metabolism to skip meals. I didn’t know so I was skipping a meal a day too.
I’m not exercising. I need to but I get so overwhelmed with nursing school.
I lost 15 lbs on the Mcdougall diet, which advocates high starch / low fat and low protein. I’m currently stuck at around 220 lbs but I’m never super hungry, and I can eat good food until full, so it’s a good setup. You can eat as much complex carbs as you want, as long as it’s low fat and low protein, and they’re calorically diluted enough that you won’t gain weight if you get full. Also the complex carbs keep you full for a long time.
High carbs is alright for blood sugar levels as long as you don’t eat a lot of fat, since the fat will lodge itself in muscle tissue and block the uptake of glucose, which results in high blood sugar and the bad stuff that is associated with.
People don’t generally gain weight from the carbohydrate intake, they gain it from the fat that accompanies the meals, since dietary fat is so readily converted to body fat, whereas carbohydrates are hard to convert to fat (only about 1.4% of carbs actually becomes fat through “de novo lipogenesis”. The rest becomes muscle energy eventually.)
After about 3 days of a low-fat diet my intramyocellular lipids get used up and I feel a lot less tired throughout the day, and I feel I need to eat less. The hunger just isn’t there after that.
My main meal is mashed potatoes and broccoli, and I still am not tired of it, but I will eventually move on to rice pasta and tomato sauce if I am not arthritically sensitive to it.
I am currently on 9 mg Paliperidone, and prior to the dietary change I had bad cravings all the time.
The correct way is five meals a day, 3 bigger meals and 2 snacks in between.
But this isn’t such a big deal actually, as long as you have a schedule you can only eat two or even one meal without getting eriosly sick(or course it’s not recommended but I take my chances) , it depends on the person and his/hers metabolism.
I start having oscilant hypertension these last few days I’ve notice it. Even a colleague asked me if I have hypertension because of my red face.
The strange thing is that it doesn’t appear after effort or stress, it is randomly mostly. I need to get it check out.
I want to lose 10 lbs. total. And keep it off. I gained 13 lbs. after moving out of that senior home with their controlled portions. I already lost 3 lbs. of it.
I need to figure out a way to control my portions at home too. I have measuring bowls. I think I’ll start using those.
I’d like to lose 30 lbs at least. I carry most of my weight in my upper body, none of it goes to my butt/legs, ugh! So far I am:
Eating at home (take out is my big problem)
Having vegetarian days
Drinking more water
Doing 20 mins of at home yoga at least twice a week
Going for walks
I would like to join the gym once I can afford it again.
Goal: lose 20lbs in a healthy way. Haven’t been able to in over a year when I switched to atypical APs
What I do: I cut out a lot of sugary drinks, and I get the frozen fruit and heat it up in the microwave.
If I get a lot of hunger, I trick myself into being full by eating slower and more of a variety.
I eat one big meal a day which is dinner, the rest yogurt, granola bar, maybe occasional small amount of mcds, crackers and cheese, multivitamin. It doesn’t sound like much but I’m not trying to starve myself, I just don’t have the money, motivation, or knowledge on how to make a good meal, or to be honest what to eat. I find this to be good to eat. My mom used to make dinner and I lost sight of that a while ago.
I started exercising everyday and pretty all I drink in filtered water
My short term goal is to lose 46 pounds, that will get me to 220, the weight I was before I started Geodon (I’ve already lost my 53 pounds I gained on Abilify). Long term I want to get to 180, but I’m just focused on 220 at the moment.
I started Zyprexa 10 days ago and am maintaining a strict calorie range of 1200-1400. I only weigh myself once a month, so I’m not sure what’s happening with my weight yet. I feel like I’ve lost a little bit, but I’ll find out on April 10 where I am.
