The start of something new - who has tried Latuda?

My pdoc gave me samples of Latuda to try in the place of Seroquel.

What should I expect for the next 3 weeks?

No one seema to be hitting this thread up. Maybe another day.

I know we have people here who have used Latuda. Added it to your title in hopes some of them see it.

I’ve never taken eather. However I would check the prices you’ll have to pay after samples run out. Sometimes I think they just want to get you started on the newest and most expensive pills. I had to argue with my pdoc to get on something cheaper. Turned out to be a good deal there like$5 month instead but of like 300$. The older pills in my opinion are still around because they work. Maybe not for everyone but I don’t understand why they don’t start us out on the cheaper pills first then work your way up if they don’t work for you.

I was on Latuda for a few months in 2012. When 40 mg wasn’t getting the job done it was upped to 80 mg while I was in a hospital. It did ok, I guess. It left me maybe a little flat, but that was a very high dose. I don’t remember a whole lot about it, except that it wasn’t worth the side effects, and that I did better when switched to Abilify. Some people have side effects with Abilify, though.

I was on 40mg for a very short time. I hated it. I was restless and had insomnia.

Ummm at first it didn’t do anything and then it gave me akesthesia so bad I wanted to drive into oncoming traffic. Quit it in a hurry. Maybe you’ll have better luck.

I was on Latuda for a short while, and it seemed like I was angry all the time when I was on it. That was probably due to the fact that I was coming off Geodon and Seroquel and not because of the effect of Latuda. Nevertheless, I asked to be put back on Geodon and Seroquel. They control my symptoms.

I’m currently on latuda.

I was on olanzapine but my new pschychiatrist switched me to latuda a of few months ago I think now.

I am still paranoid and am not back to my normal weight but Olanzapine and latuda both might help me im more familiar with olanzapine and it stopped me from hospitalisation this year.
I tried coming off meds but when I thought might need hospital I got back on olanzapine n now latuda.

I have been sleeping and I do take melatonin some nights and I have immovaane if needed.

I can’t think of any Thing to say about it really right now.

Been no huge dramas for me on it.

Hope it will work well for you.

I am on 40mg. I take it at night with dinner. I see my pdoc this morning, there’s no way I can afford this medication with my insurance. I love it, no side effects.

Latuda worked really well for me. Was on 80mg, little auditory hallucinations, no delusions. Then my insurance refused to cover it. Pissed me off, but it works well as a medicine.

Latuda has been a nightmare for me. Horrible nausea and vomiting, I’m not tolerating it very well. Its made me suicidal and now I barely get out of bed. Haven’t left the house in almost 2 weeks. I see the pdoc Tuesday and am trying to hold out until then. Not sure where to go from here since the pdoc talked this up as some miracle drug.

That’s the other issue for me, the price. Its not generic, right?

No it’s not, not yet.

you must have lost a lot of weight in that transition, did you?

geodon and seroquel is a great combo, you have an -apine and an -idone, -apines are supposed to go good with -idones. Maybe you could try Seroquel and Latuda, an apine and an idone. If you remember @surprisedj was on that combo and it took him out of deep negative symptoms.

Made me nauseous as ■■■■…also felt like I was gonna jump out of my skin I couldn’t take it. But it seems to help so many people too just didn’t sit well with me. Good luck!

Why did you try it if you knew you wouldn’t be able to afford it. You set yourself up for aw big dissapointment. how long have you been on the latuda? are you just now transitioning. What med were you no before?

I hate it, wish I didn’t have to take it,but it sucks less than geode which was the only other one of these drugs I ever took for long. A lot of bipolar people take it which I guess makes it more socially acceptable in my eyes, unlike taking clozapine or risperdal
