I play a lot of online poker, and sort of quit it while being psychotic 4 years ago but started playing again 1-2 years ago. I feel sort of ashamed of it again. I think I am throwing away my life and spend my time very poorly.
Are you successful at it? Are you winning or losing money year after year? Why are you ashamed of playing cards?
I have been playing first in 2008 or 2009 or so. Many years ago I was very good at it but I have slacked. The medication makes me a worse player. I am winning year after year. It depends on the skill of my opponents though.
Playing poker is sort of a boring retreat. I have little life besides it. I am ashamed because I think I should be doing something else.
It sounds like your playing too much poker and not balancing out the other aspects of your life. Poker is great but moderation is best… UNLESS you can be a professional then I would say you are lucky to of found your calling in life and put as much effort into the game of poker as your little heart desires. Good luck champ!
I agree with @anon39239665. It’s all about balance. Nothing wrong with playing a little poker as long as you’re not losing a lot of money and throwing money down the drain. You just need to cut down your playing and balance it with another activity. It’s possible.
I did a 180 degree turn in my life when I went from thinking drinking alcohol and smoking pot were magical to figuring out how to live without them.
