I was talking with my brother about why I need my meds. And he got a bit agitated by the fact that I’ll be on meds for the rest of my life, even though meds can cause harm. And I compared it to having to take chemo if you have cancer. He said “why take something that’s harmful for your body, just to live for a little while?!” He said if there’s no cure there should be another"natural" way to treat Schizophrenia. I told him this is just how it is. If I don’t take my meds I will go insane. He just doesn’t trust doctors or the health system.
Most normies just don’t understand.
I would let it go.
I think my mom is still in denial about the whole thing, 2 years later. Thinks i just need prayer to survive, that it’ll magically heal itself.
Gotta keep taking them meds even if it seems like theyre making stuff worse i say.
@Vertigo, @anon21561657 y’all are right. We just need those meds and move along.
My parents were like that for a long time now 10 years later they understand I need legit treatment.
Be patient with your families and friends. They love you and want what is best for you.
I think he does not understand that schizophrenia is a medical illness.
Brain is an organ and it is part of the body.
This applies to other medical illnesses or physical illnesses.
I think telling him about the nature of this illness would be really helpful.
