It is not the job itself but I’ve found it hard to get along with people. They’re all really nice but it’s super hard for me to get comfortable around them. I used to get invited to parties but don’t anymore because they know it makes me feel awkward.
I find it hard to get along with people too. It’s not like I’m getting in conflicts with my co-workers it’s just that I am naturally quiet. I’m friendly with everyone but there’s very few people I will talk to on a regular basis.
I’m very lucky that all of my current co-workers are good, supportive people. One can be a bit crabby, but he’s got a good heart and I just have to be understanding when he’s having a bad day. My boss has … issues … but I’ve put up with much worse.
I get along okay with my boss because he knows I have a strong work ethic. He’s never come in and found me on my third cup of coffee. The driver I replaced would spend the entire day doing sudoku puzzles and getting paid for it if there were no deliveries on the books. This week has been a bit slow so I’ve been cleaning like crazy. The boss noticed and thanked me. I just don’t see the point of sitting around when you’re collecting pay.
Have been invited over to one co-worker’s home so far and we enjoyed it. The staff Christmas Party was also more enjoyable than I expected. This new job has been a pretty good experience so far. Only problem is that we’re experiencing an economic slowdown in our province and business has dropped off some. Hours are getting cut on Monday. I won’t take a hit because I’ve already been going home when its slow and I’m out of work to do, but the office and counter staff are all freaking out right now.
Pixel.
i know how you feel, for me communicating wih other people became very exhausting, i reached the point when i even doesen’t bother to comunicate with co workers at all, except when its work related, i even think of getting a truck driver license so i could work alone…
I just hired a temporary guy for work to work with the other 2 guys. He is so loud and talkative. A little too much. I just have to cut him off to get him to stop talking lol.
There’s all kinds of personality types you will run into. Some more tolerable than others
I try to look at it as a challenge. Figuring out the best way to communicate and work with said personality type.
I seem to get along well with other students- probably because I am a really good one- but some people look down on me for not working a job while in school- well I don’t need one, I’m on scholarship. So instead I am a perfectionist and I exercise a lot too.
Sounds good pixel. Keep on truckin’ . Literally.
