The Dark Tower

Has anyone read the 8 book series of ‘The Dark Tower’ by Stephen King?

For example, Is it as good as The Stand?

I have just got a kindle and want to get into a deep saga and have enjoyed King in the past.

I just want to know if it is worth the money?

Which books would you recommend if you liked The Stand? I really enjoyed that too, so would enjoy your insight?

Why didn’t you like The Dark Tower then? Any particular reason?

I’m generally not a huge Stephen King fan.

I liked Desperation/The Regulators (Stephen King/Richard Bachman), though.

Also written in the 90s during that weird phase.

And I just couldn’t like force myself to read The Dark Tower.

Couldn’t get into it.

Yeah, I love ‘The long walk’ by Bachman.

Has anyone read Ursula le Guin? I don’t know where to staert with her works.

The movie was ok! Haven’t read the books! But if it’s by Stephen king it’s probably good.

Yeah, it really captured my imagination in the 90’s. I listened to it recently and it was still good.

I read all of The Dark Tower series years ago. I enjoyed them, except for the last book, cuz I didn’t like the ending. I’m a big King fan, tho, and have read all of his books… he’s the only author that I’ll put money out for new releases.

I started reading TDT last night and today.

I am enjoying it so far. King is an easy read and not too taxing,

Kindle now can read epub and for now mobi files which is a bonus I didn’t foresee.

I use (calibre) where I convert my ebook formats and then I send them to my Kindle. It takes a few minutes to set it up but it’s worth the effort.

My kindle 16gb cost me £75 and the 8 books would have cost me over £40 so I am over half way in covering my costs!

Kindle is a great device. I was worried about the battery life but really. It holds up for weeks if not months. And the screen is really easy on my eyes. I recommend everyone buying one!

I liked the first few books. As a matter of fact I’m rereading the third book right now. Enjoying it.
