I agree with antipsychiatry in that Benzos and antidepressants are prescriped far to much among the broader population in the western world
I also agree in that the withdrawl from psychotropic can be terrible.
But please do understand that being off of antipsychotics is a totally nightmare for the sufffetes of psychosis.
So please remember that taking a Schizophrenics off meds is like playing with presures lives.
theres different kinds. the academic and advocacy side is pretty legit and neccessary. obviously it will get a little crazy, afterall only the crazy take issue with psychiatry mostly

Yeah ive been reading a book that is quite critical of psychiatry and most psychiatric drugs. Its called ‘mental health survival kit and withdrawal from psychiatric drugs’ by peter c. Gotzche.
Pretty hectic so far. But im not going in believing everything. I just think its good to read about multiple perspectives on interesting topics.
I know in my own experience that ap meds help a lot of people. Undoubtedly.
The troupling problem eith Peter Gotche is that he doesnt distingvise between psychosis and mild depression.
Personally I belive that there is no way around antidepressants if you got very severe depression.
I slso think that there is a way around antipsychotics when people are really aggitatted and psychotic.
Some illnesses absolutely require medication because the medication has a very definite effect. Others can be questioned - this is not the case with antipsychotics as per the medical community
Sometimes only fortunate people get medicated with antipsychotics and antidepressants.
There are people who become financially broke and could not even afford medicines and maybe they are from poor financial background. Those are the ones who suffer more and due to which lot of alternatives have been coming up.
Not sure how wider audience feels about medicines. It works if there is some support in family and some financial aid I guess.
So far he has been very specific and clear in differentiating between antipsychotics and antidepressants, anticonvulsants, benzos, and adhd meds and all that. But then also arguing against thier efficacy. But this is one of his more recent books i think.
Sorry, im not trying to peddle antipsychiatry propaganda haha. Dont want to cause any disputes or anything. Psychiatrists and meds have helped me a lot over the years.
I wish I cud come off the antipsychotic I might try one day but it’s very risky.
