I can’t tell you how much more comfortable we are now that we got the cost of living increase in my disability check…thank goodness…we just had no room for any extra expenses…yayyy…
That’s great news. It hasn’t helped me a whole lot. But I started out at $700/ month so I’m still having trouble affording life
We are doing much better now too @jukebox.
Are you on SSI? It was about 600+ max last year.
Or SSDI? Which gets calculated by your work credits and earnings.
We’re you working to be able to apply for SSDI?
I’m nervous about how much higher the bills will be at the new place. Groceries are up close to 25% now. My wife was dead set on a house with a yard so we’ll have to make it work somehow. Thankfully our vehicle costs are very low since I work from home and El Wife’s job is within walking distance.
I’m basically stuck at the same disposable income every month as before since my landlord raised my rent by $75 this year, so my COLA is going to that a##hole instead
So great you can work from home. I don’t think I can even do that. I have problems with using the phone.
Well, same, but likely for a different reason: Tinnitus.
Edit: My view during the work day:
Hardest part of my commute is not tripping over the cat and spilling my tea. My wife has colleagues who drive an hour each way every day. I have NO IDEA how they can afford the increases in petrol. Oy.
Wow! That’s a tidy home telecommuting setup.
My home telecommuting setup is kinda messy in comparison.
Impressed with your dual monitor setup. Triple keyboards. Sweet setup.
Niice i have that monitor. I like it
I’m on SSDI. My husband is on Ssdi too. We don’t qualify for Ssi
You are probably okay now Juke but eventually the economy is going to balance itself out unless our government wants to start freezing prices on goods and other consumer items.
I wish I could qualify for disability but they refused me because my husband is well off and can support me. But if I had disability I could have more money of my own but I can’t. But the only thing I’d buy is books and some clothes anyway. So I guess it’s moot.
My COLA has been chewed up with food prices, Medicare premium hike, and rent increase.
Disability (SSDI) is based on work credits and past income amount, you dont have to have a low income to qualify its based off your symptoms. SSI is based on current income and you have to be below a certain threshold to qualify. My husband makes good money but i still get disability because i paid into the system for 15 years.
