One of the biggest energy drains in your home is the oven. Energy company Utilita suggests an electric oven can add as much as £335 to your energy bills per year, with an average cost of 27p per use. And emergency home and boiler cover company Hometree estimate the cost of using the oven at £1 an hour.
In comparison, Hometree has calculated that slow cookers, which are enjoying a surge in popularity, use around 5p of energy an hour, adding up to an average cost per use of 26p, while an air fryer will cost around 30p per hour to run, or 7p per use. So, with energy costs mounting, rather than automatically heading to the oven, it might be time to investigate different options.
