Tell me all the horrible things you can think of about living in a fifth wheel

My husband and I are possibly bidding on a fifth wheel.

That means we’d have to sell/donate all our things and move into it pretty fast.

Before we say all the horrible things know a few facts about it:

It does have two bathrooms.

I will have to move lots every 21 days to a different park.

This will involve getting a newer, more expensive vehicle.

With the current plan, we could have enough for a down payment for a nice home in a couple years.

Alright!

Tear my plan up!

I want to hear what horrible things I’m not thinking about.

Bring out your inner pessimist and tell me what you think!

I think it’s awesome. There was one football player living in one of these (iirc)

You’ll become ever the more grateful for your home afterwards!

just don’t lose sight of your goal…to save money that is, it will be tempting to spend everything on the road.

I think, please don’t sell your home. And if both of you want to live on a vehicle, do it extra.

I don’t own a home.

I rent.

If I live in a fifth wheel for two years I can afford to buy a house.

Then also, I think your not in a good idea, because every family have relative and friends. Its not looking good way.

Lack of personal space - you’ll make each other crazy.

Lack of space for your hobbies.

Have fun trying to entertain guests.

Small, limited, and horrible kitchen.

5th wheel bathrooms suck.

Mobile Internet usually sucks - hope you don’t like streaming TV. (Look at Starlink if you’re serious.)

Hope you don’t live where there are strong storms or tornadoes.

That’s just off the top of my head. I’m pretty sure I can ruin this for you if you really want me to.

Live in a fifth wheel.
You sound like you are good to make life work in a vehicle.
You’d save fast.
Learn to live with less.

I see lots of positive.

Negative is being in constant move, motivated and problem solve anything that comes up.

Ive lived in small travel trailers for about a total of probably 5 years. Biggest downside is if u live in it full time and dont get out enough the smallness can get to u. If u plan on moving from park to park that will help keep things interesting especially if u travel with it and not just park to park in the same area. Biggest downside i’d say is some sorta small home claustrophobia.

If I could buy a home after two years in a 5th wheel, i’d do it

My dearest Charles foster It brings to mine. Hardships and rough times I had. Why was living out of the back of my pickup Traveling from state park to state park. Till I got my social security disability. Fifth, wheels can be comfortable. I’ve seen many people live on them. But not for a long period of time. One of the dramatic things I can remember most about my fifthwheel Was the fact that I could not get it to be level. And would rock every time I walked in it. Always happened to use hoses. The drain the septic into a tank and then into the sewage. This was not fun. I wish you 2 the best of happiness. Please find some place that has the internet. And remember, your neighbors are not just your friends, but your enemies. When it comes to trailer parks. Keep your stuff locked up.

Will you be away from you pdoc traveling around the state? Or will you be in touch

Of course live there why does it have to be a certain kind of house.

You’ll get to travel the country.

You’ll meet some of the coolest most interesting people on the road and campgrounds.

You’ll see some sights that people only get to see on the computer screen and television.

You’ll see awesome wildlife.

You’ll experience epic cuisine from different regions of the country.

Your backyard will be Yellowstone Park one week, and Yosemite Park the next.

I’m really trying to be a pessimist but I only see the opportunity for adventure. If you have a chance to go out and travel I strongly strongly recommend it. It won’t be perfect and the first few months will be a major adjustment, but when you buy a house and settle back down to a central location your memories will be worth more than I can describe.

The value of the fifth wheel would depreciate over time. You wouldn’t get equity like you would with a house. … Moving it from park to park will probably damage the fifth wheel.

I didnt know what a fifth wheel was until i googled it just then. They look great! And way more spacious looking than most caravans and the like that ive seen before. Sounds like an awesome time. I would love to do that if i could. Im stuck renting and struggling for the moment. But it could be worse.
