Ready for a drastic life change

My husband and I have been discussing living in an RV for a couple years to save money for a house.

It ended up not working financially due to storage.

Well, our landlord has raised the rent.

Not so much that we can’t afford it, but enough to where we’re reconsidering this plan.

We’d have to sell/give away/throw away basically every large item we have, and take only what we literally need into storage.

We could afford that much, plus the RV, we’d be saving a ton.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot and am kind of ready to move on it.

I think I’m going to talk to my husband about it.

He’ll be happy, I think.

May do it this year, who knows!

Pretty cool you could own your own house one day.

I hope it will have a swimming pool since you’re living in California.

I hope it works out. Good luck!

HA!

No swimming pool.

Very few people have them where I live on account of the cold.

It’s pretty chilly here at night and doesn’t warm up past the 80s even in the summer.

Plus, even living in an RV for twice that time probably would afford us that.

Good luck! That’s quite the adventure.

My husband and I lived in his mom’s basement for 4 months, rent free. We just had to pay for storage for 90% of our belongings.

It was really cramped and we were living out of a few boxes. But we were able to get a townhouse, after that! So, totally worth it.

Lots of people do that. You may have to invest in a good generator, propane, and source a sewage dump location but otherwise I think it is a great way to live.

…and you can learn of all the material items that you can live without.

My wife and I are considering it. She wants to build a large house once she gets her continuing contract, but… We’re both in our fifties. Do we really need that much space? I’m pushing for getting a converted bus we can travel in during the pleasant season and purchasing a small condo as a homebase for winter.

I have a travel trailer but it’s kind of small. I have had it for months and haven’t gone camping yet. It’s still new pretty much. Haven’t even taken the plastic off the mattress.

I could totally live in it though. It’s quaint.

I would love to have one of those teardrop camper trailers. I would be in heaven with that.

Wise thoughts you have.

Do it! It will be an adventure like no other. You’ll get to see amazing scenery, and while traveling and living out of an RV can be stressful at first, once you get into the groove and your backyard is Yellowstone Park, or Zion National Park, or even the Grand Canyon it’ll be worth it.

I’m working on getting healthy enough to start traveling again. I did in my mid 20’s for work, and when the office was outside in Alaska, I knew I was doing something right. My drinking problem and the illness put a temporary damper in that, but my goal is to get out there and see more sights.

You won’t regret it!

Adventure! The feelings of wind on golden winged boots!

Travel to a new small town every week or so, have a rabble with the locals, and then race out once your work is done. I’d watch that show.

Mr. Gabel and the the magic RV.

I have it in storage right now but I am going to look at a new storage facility soon that’s also a campground and has electricity hook ups. And a covered roof. It’s on the Tickfaw River. The campground isn’t open yet though

You and Mr. Foster should move to KC!

It’s still pretty cheap to live here.

Plus I need more friends lol.

In all seriousness though we have a lot of people from California and NY moving here because of how cheap everything is. I predict our city is going to be the “next big thing” in the near future.
