Tapering down Paxil

I’m on day 4 of a 5 mg reduction of Paxil.

I was taking 20 mg.

I had an appt with my doctor on Tuesday and this is what we decided to do.

Paxil is very difficult to come off of. The last time I tried to do it (about 10 years ago) it triggered something in me that made everything go haywire and I ended up on risperidone to help straighten things out.

Today I woke up feeling a little dizzy and nauseous. Maybe a little irritable. Had intermittent sleep last night.

With twice weekly therapy (1:1 plus group) I feel like I’m in a better place, so hoping to eliminate the Paxil.

Anyway, just wanted to make this post so I can keep track of what’s happening.

I hope things don’t go south. :grimacing:

Paxil is the first medication I was ever put on back in 2005, 20 years ago. It was supposed to help with depression yet I became psychotic a couple of months after having started it…

Yeah it was marketed really heavily back in the early 2000s.

It’s less frequently prescribed these days.
