SZ and Cannabis (TW: denialists might feel offended by some of the figures enclosed)

I’m not suggesting this study has the last word on the controversy, or that causality has been conclusively established, but definitely worth a read. Particularly on a SZ site (of all places!) that continues to display so much leniency towards hash use.

It’s still illegal out here and I don’t think we contribute to leniency. Most folk here know it’s dangers. It’s still worth a read and I think it’s a prime contributer to discovering sz for sure…

We are just as critical of things like alcohol so it’s not just a weed thing as far as moderation goes.

I’m not 100% certain if it is a cause or just a trigger for people that are susceptible to sz. I avoid it myself though. It is definitely a factor in some way.

I lean more in this direction I think though. Some people smoke pot their whole lives (I know some who have) and are fine and never develop sz so I have to think the genetic predisposition has to be there..

I obviously do not know for sure though…just like everyone else.

This has been posted here before and discussed before. It’s not a strong argument for causality. No one was offended, but you seem to be pretty upset.

Well, people do get away with promoting the alleged health benefits of their weed use without consequence. The same doesn’t seem to apply to alcohol.

Philosophy drives people mad. Make philosophy illegal…

Heaven forbid people discuss it as it can make people delusional.

To deny that some people go mad intellectualising and ruminating on it may be offensive to some.

Do you flag these incidents? Because if you don’t let us know the posts exist at the time, it is really useless to complain about us not responding to them.

It would be like if you had a leaky faucet, never told the landlord, then 3 months later yelled at him for never fixing the faucet. We can’t be aware the problem exists unless we are made aware.

Posts glorifying illicit marijuana use are not allowed. Posts diacussing enjoyment from THC is not allowed. CBD is different, as studies have shown it is not linked to psychosis, and might actually have antipsychotic properties.

Weed is literal poison for sz, one puff and youre full blown psychotoc as it stops from APs working. Even in risperidone site it is written in black and white as thx stops risperidone from working

I do believe that philosophy can have that effect on people. I was reading into philosophy and, conspiracy theories and manipulation for a few years before a became ill. Wish I hadn’t let my mind take that course.

Yes, I was having a tongue in cheek critique of the anti-weed stance, but there are so many delusions based on certain philosophies, it is true.

Best avoid religion and philosophy if you get sz, especially at first.

Actually alcohol free beer has some value because it still has sedating properties even without alcohol. It can help calm the mind. I drink the 2.5% ones. They are actually placed in the alcohol free section in my shop. I guess they are not regarded as “proper” beer. You might get a slight buzz from them, but you would need to drink quite a lot for that. But in moderate amounts they are beneficial for me.

I enjoy non alcoholic beers, they give you the taste and sense of reward as well as allowing you to relax with others who are drinking alcohol.

I am anti-legalization, mainly due to my belief that marijuana worsens mental health, both for smokers and others. I follow several anti-legalization accounts on Twitter.

I have read Alex Berenson. I haven’t read Kevin Sabet’s book, yet, but I follow him on Twitter.

Too late. It’s already legal here and becoming increasingly so elsewhere. I think medical marijuana can help with a variety of illnesses. Alcohol is 1 million times worse dudes.

Yes as a person with a BA in Philosophy I can attest that philosophy drove me mad. I was already mad anyway, but that and weed made things worse.

Are you talking to me?? I have it prescribed from a doctor. It helps me personally.

I wasn’t talking to anyone in particular
