Swallowing problems

No they didn’t see
I will meet one in a hour and if they don’t care I will tell my mom

Tell the doctors that you have blood in your vomit.
This is very important.

I will
I’m in a psych ward right now

Sometimes docs don’t take psychiatric patients seriously. I hope this isn’t the case this time around.

Yes it seems to be the case
I went to the ER and they didn’t even research it
I’m worried I’m gonna die soon

I have trouble swallowing food but not drinking. Heaven forbid, you are unfortunate! I have to throw it up when I’ve taken too large a bite and I admit I curse the heavens, it is such a downer I considered suicide. I contacted my doctor but she wants me to go to an ENT doctor first before she has to argue with the insurance company and I’m supposed to get an endoscopy. I feel for you!

I know that most of the doctors I’ve faced don’t take my medical concerns seriously

I’m sorry @Jinx
I hope that my psychiatrist doesn’t make me go to all these other specialists.
When I’m almost positive it’s the AP.

I ate different foods today and so far I haven’t experienced any swallowing difficulties.

I am relieved.

Happy for you

I had dysphagia for many years. A few times I had to go to hospital because of it. One time they had to remove a piece of steak from my esophagus by means of a gastroscopy.

Three years ago I went to see a chirurg because I couldn’t take it anymore. I had another endoscopy and he took biopsies of my esophagus.

It turned out I had Eosonophilic esophagitis. I got treated with steroids/cortisone and Omeprazole and I had to follow a strict elimination diet.

A few months later he did another endoscopy and the condition has cleared up. He stopped the steroids. I continued with the diet for a while. Now I am on a maintenance dosage of 20mg Pantoprazole and I can swallow anything.

Dysphagia is dangerous and not something to take lightly.

I have the opposite issue, I can eat fine but choke when drinking water or on my own saliva, its like if my airway muscles don’t constrict and let liquid in my lungs. I told the Dr and he ignored me saying its not the AP and that its just bcz my mouth is dry. I didn’t have this problem on 4mg risperidone, only on 6mg.

Thanks @Fellowman @Crystal-Cotton and @Aziz

I’ve also had trouble swallowing for many years now. Ever since I was in my mid to late 40’s. I’ll be 62 in February 2022. My neurologist told me it was caused by a migraine induced stroke.

I’ve had many diagnostic tests for my dysphagia over the years: three esophageal endoscopies with biopsies, and one barium swallow but all were negative.

One GI doctor told me that my issues were most likely caused by my AP medications.

No one at any time has ever suggested a treatment for my dysphagia or doing anything about it.

I’m sorry that you have swallowing issues @SkinnyMe

Yeah I’m almost positive that in my case it’s the Risperdal causing the dysphagia.

So far it’s not that severe.

Even I have swallowing problems, I will get this checked with my pdoc visit.
Yesterday was hard. I was not able to swallow, had to force water down else I could have choked.
For me it happens first three to four swallows, after that its fine.
Also chest burns for two to three days if I take specific food, same goes with coffee.
I had visited Gastroenterologists once but I don’t remember now for what it was for.
