I read the birthdays everyday on IMDb.
Recently I watched an old favorite movie of mine.
I knew that it was on IMDb’s top 250,
Because that’s how I heard of it.
After reading about the plot, I was very interested,
It was beyond my comprehension how a vampire movie made it to such status.
Seemed unlikely.
However, “Let The Right One In” (the original, of course), the cinematography is insane, the story is compelling and complex, it totally deserved it’s place on that list.
I checked that same list for the first time in a very long time today.
To my horror, I discovered “Let The Right One In” had been booted off the list (along with many actual classic, golden era films) by freaking Avengers movies. There were a couple Spiderman’s on there. And, AND, all three of Christopher Nolan’s Batman’s were on there.
I think at least one of the Batman films belongs there, but all three?
No.
What the ■■■■ is going on?
Do people seriously not watch old movies?
How could anyone think this formula adhering, over produced crap is good?
Not only good, but freaking good enough to push actual films that are thought provoking and unique out of the spotlight.
I don’t get it.
I was happy to see my all time favorite movie was still holding firm up in the 70s range of the list.
It’s ranked right below “Dr. Strangelove…”
But both films were easily outrated by a few Batman’s, Spiderman’s and one Avengers movie.
I worry for the children.
THE CHILDREN.
The kids born these days are going to grow up thinking “Inception” is the best humanity has to offer in the film department.
Gods help us.
