Suffering with Paranoia

I am suffering with paranoia and it is exhausting me. My medications are not helping, so I drank a glass of wine each of the last three nights to help me calm down. I don’t want to get in the habit of turning to alcohol. I will see my psychiatrist tomorrow. Hopefully, she can help me, because I feel overwhelmed with fear (tightness in chest, queasy gut, adrenaline rushes, sweat, clammy palms, prickly crown sensations, etc.). The underlying delusions are that I am being affected from the spiritual realm (given tactile sensations/experiences) and of persecution/being watched. Also, recently told my therapist I believe I need to find someone else to work with, because I don’t trust her. And making this change, I feel like I’m “defying authority“ or betraying the relationship. I know that sounds mixed up, but that’s exactly how I feel is profoundly mixed up. Just want to put this out here for support as I am really suffering.

Sorry you’re having such a rough time. I recently switched therapists because I didn’t trust the old one anymore. It’s hard to have therapy work if you don’t trust the person.

@FreeLunch the paranoia stinks.

@NHD thank you for the words of support. You are right, therapy is not helpful without trust.

@anon57496651 You are welcome. I did read your post. It helped give me confidence to share my own current struggles.

Paranoia sucks, it affects your life in a hard way. Please tell us what happens with your p doc and how you will proceed with this process. I’m sure you’ll get better, keep us posted on the situation

So, my doc increased my Abilify to 20 mg. But, then, I realized I only recently began taking Zoloft and it was after titrating up from 50 to 100 mg that the extreme anxiety and paranoia began. So, I am wondering if this is the cause. Has anyone else had anxiety and paranoia increase because of Zoloft? I will see my doctor again soon, so will discuss with her.
