we keep buying bologna and cheese for sandwiches…it seems to last the longest…going to have to eat pasta in about a week…mac and cheese…spaghetti maybe would work. we have 20 left. so I might buy hamburger with it and have spaghetti, didn’t think of that.
I eat a lot of beans…a can of store-brand kidney beans is only $1, and if I add rice it makes a complete protein, and a little cheese makes it even better. I get only $77 a month in food stamps so I pretty much run out after one store visit. Coupons are really helpful. Our food bank only lets you get 10 boxes a year, so it’s limited. I like that I can eat lunch free at the clubhouse but it’s only on weekdays. It’s hard to eat well on a limited budget.
Similar situation here, im also really self conscious about asking for help now tbh. Kinda dont want to. I’ll try to stretch what i have for as long as i can, but i dont think it’ll last till the 27th which is the goal
A cheap meal I like is rice, canned tuna and cooked cabbage. It’s a complete meal as you get protein, carb and veggie. I make a simple Asian sauce to go with it but you can buy a bottle of soy sauce. Canned tuna and rice store for a long time so buy it when you have money and store it for when you don’t. So all you’ll need to buy is cabbage which is about $2 per head depending on size.
Growing up my mom would make big rice balls and stuff with canned tuna and bean sprouts. She would roll them in sesame seeds. We would eat them dipped in soy sauce. One of my fondest foods as a kid.
I didn’t like food as a child but my nanny would always get seaweed in the plastic rolls… I donno u can’t find them in western stores so they are only a fond memory
