A month with no extra money. What’s the best things to buy?
90 dollars a month?
I guess buy eggs…lots and lots of eggs.
All I could think of is ramen noodles lol
yeah, those are cheap too. The cost of eggs has actually gone up some I think. They used to be super cheap.
id buy rice, beans, eggs, potatoes, pasta, macaroni and cheese, ramen noodles. but mainly rice, beans and potatoes. theyre high carb but not too unhealthy unless u have diabetes and they are very cheap. and eggs for protein.
Ramen noodles
Bananas are really cheap
Boullion for broth and cooking
Beans
Flour and salt and sugar
You could bake some stuff
2 dollars for a dozen at walmart.
You can get macaroni and cheese dinners for a dollar right now at Walmart. The Dollar Tree usually has a few good items on sale for $1.25, like sandwiches and burritos. They had these cans of macaroni in tomato sauce with chunks of meat in them. This stuff doesn’t taste as good as fast food, but it is nourishing. Check the shelves at Walmart and the Dollar Tree for bargains on food. They have corn dogs selling cheap. My food stamps are covering about half my food budget right now, but the other money I get from the state pays for the rest of my food. I have enough that I can indulge occasionally.
Can you appeal for hearing to get more?
They go through your finances rent contract, utility bills and expenses and bank statements. I had mine reduced and after the hearing increased.
I remember reading this book some years ago that recommended getting about seventy percent of your calories from carbohydrates. Now that trend seems to have gone by the wayside. The best approach is to look for a healthy balance in your diet.
Shop sales. Buy in bulk. I wouldn’t buy ramen, it has a lot of sodium and no nutritional value. It’s probably OK to have it every now and then but I wouldn’t make it a staple in your household. Buy vegetables and fruit that are in season, that’s when they’re cheapest.
A good way to save money is write down a meal plan for a week at a time. That way you see exactly what you’ll be eating and what you’re spending and then you can make adjustments and eat cheaper if possible.
Have days where you go meatless or serve very little meat. You can make great meals without meat and save money that way.
Lots of stores put out weekly ads with some great deals, use those; some stores websites will even have their weekly ads on the site.
Look at all the sales at different stores and go to multiple stores to shop depending on what sales they have.
peanut butter isn’t cheap but it lasts a long time, we buy two tubs a month and with jelly it’s a really good meal for the money. have to buy bread twice a month though.
3 dollars a day I suppose… Or you’d have to like break it down to 1 dollar per meal I guess? My only advice would to be very accurate. I also think you should maybe seek help cause it doesn’t sound like much.
Buy everything when it’s on sale and buy extra so there’s always food when there are no sales. Cook in bulk and freeze what you don’t use so nothing spoils. Food pantries provide a lot of pantry items so go to everyone you can.
I could live on £100 for a 4/week month pretty easily but England is much cheaper and reasonable for food than the USA I haver heard?
This is just about 2 weeks food and cost £43. I only buy supermarket own label food.

Dollar store every month helps.
It’s a good thing the only store in town is a dollar general. No grocery nor dollar trees
My nearest town is full of charity shops. We have the biggest food bank in England here. It used to be a rich tin mining area but that industry collapsed decades ago.
