I’m starting a new job next week. I have orientation this Sunday and my first shift will be on Wednesday. Also, I just moved into a new apartment a few days ago. I’m nervous that this might be a bit too much for me at one time.
I was thinking about calling my therapist to see if he has any advice on what to do. Thing is, I’m not scheduled to meet with him until the same Wednesday that my first shift is scheduled for.
Overall feeling very anxious about having two transitions back to back like this. Does anyone have advice on how to handle this?
Break your tasks into chunks so they seem more manageable. First, just focus on orientation on Sunday and put the rest of it out of your mind. Then once orientation is over, focus on the next task. Keep doing that, even if you have stuff happening back-to-back, and it should help ease up some of the anxiety. This is the strategy I employ. One thing at a time, small picture, etc. Good luck!
I moved my orientation to tomorrow. I have to admit I’m pretty anxious. I have not worked in a setting like this since 2017. I think I’m gonna take an L-theanine before to help calm me down a bit.
