Stress triggers and relapse

Does anyone feel avoiding stress triggers can prevent relapse when off of antipsychotics?

Both times I became psychotic I was living in a house and growing weed illegally. Which I then through away. Without this pressure, would I maybe be okay?

Although there was no drug use involved in the second episode.

People say exposing yourself to those triggers little by little can lessen the blow

Yeah I mean that if I avoid those triggers can I come off of medication and avoid a third episode of psychosis?

Or is it medication for life? Who knows I suppose.

I doubt anyone can answer that question. No one knows whether or not you are going to relapse or if certain triggers are going to induce psychosis. I would say that if you are going to go off medication, it certainly wouldn’t hurt to try to avoid any triggers that you know of.

I mean I don’t know about meds for life, that seems to depend on you and the the doctors, but avoiding stress is only good for ya temporary, and if you don’t face it even a little, it will still be a stress the second time around.

And it would be harsher each time. Avoiding is a temporary relief…

True…. But some of the stress was unnecessary, and wasn’t worth it. So by avoiding stress I mean keeping things in perspective and what really matters.

I think it’s a bold move to focus on what really matters… yeah

The boat might rock, but as long as you know the direction to go, you can adjust after the tough times pass
