Well I’m still going at it as a PSS! I’ve been doing this for about a year and four months. I’ve had some stress and all but I think I made the right choice to go back to work full time. It’s been very rewarding but the pay kind of sucks. It’s only 13.30 dollars per hour. Hopefully the state of California will certify PSS in the future so the pay will go up. But to help people that have a serious mental illness like we do is very rewarding. Rock on SZ community!

It’s still above the average income for schizophrenics… and as you say, it has the potential to bring you great amounts of joy and also help your own recovery.
I am currently jobless because of negative symptoms but if I ever improve, I will maybe forget my old career (software developer) and choose something more people-oriented.

Sounds good Audrey! I worked with m dad’s company for a long time as an assistant civil engineer and I didn’t interact with people much. It was satisfying but not as much as peer support work . Rock on Audrey!
