Been in this situation a few times over the years. Haven’t got a clue how to give directions to fairly nearby places. Often used the " I’m a visitor" line if asked for directions.

Now everyone has gps on their phone. We’re literally living in the future.
Obviously heard of GPS but have no idea how it works. Do you have to input your start and end points and it shows the way by saying go left turn right etc ? Otherwise how do you find your way if like me you are no good with ordinary navigational aids like an ordinance survey,road, or street map ?

Yeah, do you have a smart phone? I think most of them have it. Or you could buy an actual gps, I find it extremely helpful.
I don’t currently have a smartphone but am thinking of getting one.
