Starting Zyprexa

Well, talked to the pdoc today and we’re going to start tapering off the clozapine and adding Zyprexa. I’m supposed to start the Zyprexa tonight at 5 mg and reduce the clozapine by half before discontinuing it a week from now. I’d had a bad week with the QTc prolongation and hope that the switch will help reduce the number of exacerbations that I have. He also told me that I can come into the office anytime I call in beforehand to get an EKG instead of going to the ER…I told him how they gaslight me whenever I go to the ER for cardiac complaints. I also hope the med switch will help the tachycardia I have.

I admit that I’m a little scared that the suicidal ideation and self harm will get worse without the clozapine, and I worry that some of the voices will come back…but overall I’m hoping that I’ll be okay with the switch. Y’all wish me luck!

I hope it does but in my experience zyprexa is the same. Both gave me tachycardia. Tho it was more severe with clozapine. All the drugs ending in PINE can cause tachycardia cause they act on the musunic receptor or whatever its called. M1 or M2 i think. Idk there is a video on youtube about it.

Best wishes with your new medication.:pray:t4:

Good luck! Keep us updated.

Good luck @WhiteRaven Zyprexa is a good med for me and lots of others helping with symptoms. I hope it helps you too.

Zyprexa saved mom from Clozapine. But I will recommend you to not go totally off Clozapine pills because that those are in a class of them selves.
I say this because I lost so many friends who died from various reasons from getting of Clozapine. So therefore keep some Clozapine.
