So I have a agreement with my doctor that I can try to taper down on Zyprexa. I’m not sure what the end goal is when it comes to which dosage to aim for or going completely off. I guess I’ll just try slowly and see how far it goes without running into trouble.
The thing is I’m having poor sleep quality on 7.5mg. However it improved from horrible sleep when we switched from generic to original zyprexa, so things have improved the last year. But sleep is still pretty bad, so something needs to be done medication wise. I doubt going up to a higher dose of zyprexa would solve anything. Also it would mean I couldn’t work anymore.
So last week I went down to 5mg zyprexa and took 50mg seroquel to try and ease the taper. I’m also taking quite a few supplements that are recommended for tapering to ease the transition.
Tapering is rough though, had a couple bad days, but I’m hanging in there. I think the body slowly gets used to less zyprexa I’ve been able to sleep ok most days, slightly better than before the taper I’d say, so I think I’m onto something. I guess seroquel is a good substitute choice as well when sleep is the issue.
Nope. Going to see how I do without any meds. I know it’s risky but I havent tried it in years and im sick of being hungry every second of the day, having high blood pressure, high risk of diabetes. Theres also many more reasons.
If my mental health declines to the point I become suicidal, I will go back on AP’s and AD’s.
I told my doctor I didn’t want to take my blood pressure medicine, Lisinopril, it made me get a bald spot on the front of my head. I take beet juice pills and I drink water, I stay away from caffeine, salt, and sugar. They checked my blood pressure and it was normal without prescription meds. I checked my blood pressure for 4 months and it was normal. My cholesterol was a little high. My doctor said take fish oil it will higher your good cholesterol and lower your bad cholesterol. So I got off 2 prescription pills. Good things.
im always suspicious of the “minimums”. like do they even test low doses. i think they test higher doses in short trial so they can almost garentee quick results for their trials. charts show that the most change in brain chemicals is seen in the lower doses and then as the dose goes up the changes to brain chemicals only change slightly.
I just tapered off Zyprexa in the hospital, as i was having bad akathisia with it and i needed to go on something that would help my delusions without making me need to constantly move. So I’m on Latuda and Vraylar now. Are they as good as either the Zyprexa or the clozapine i was on before the Zyprexa? I don’t think so…but they are working good enough so far and i don’t have intolerable side effects like akathisia or QTc prolongation. I frigging HATE med changes!
