Starting Invega 6mg tonight

Hey all,

I got approved by the pdoc to switch from risperdal to invega 6mg, and I’m starting it tonight. I know some people posted in the “Invega 9mg” thread, but I figured I’d start my own topic just to keep things tidy.

Is there anything I should be on the lookout for? My pdoc says with me tolerating the risperdal so well, I should be fine and not have to worry about anything. I’m excited about my man boobs potentially shrinking, too.

I’m prepping by taking 1mg less of risperdal today (I take 3mg a day) and then tonight I’ll take my first Invega.

If I don’t get super tired from risperdal, will I have to watch out for getting tired with the invega?

Any tips or advice is appreciated.

Thanks formalname! I’m really excited about taking the extended release tabs so it’s more even throughout the day, but obviously I like to be prepared

Thanks saynow. I’m looking forward to the switch.

I don’t get tired at all from invega. I just sleep fairly well. Quite regular actually whereas on my previous AP I was sleeping really badly as it was no longer working for me.

I am not on pill form. You may get tired but when I took risperdal I remember being very tired whereas I don’t on this.

I am not a guy so I can’t speak for man boobs lol.

It’s been great for me. I hope the switch goes well for you. It’s supposed to be very similar to risperdal this exact to risperdal. Good luck.

Since people seem to react to it pretty well, I might just take my normal dose of risperdal today, and start the invega in the morning. I kind of don’t want to be at work without taking all my meds.

Thanks everyone  I’ll be watching this thread.

Just a heads up, my pharmacist knows me and knows the meds I take. She strongly encouraged me to take the invega at night, without a full regular dose of risperdal beforehand.

Today, I only took my morning risperdal, and I’ve got about 2 hours before I start the Invega. I’m super sensitive to ap’s so skipping afternoon and evening doses, everything seems surreal, but it’s weird because my auditory symptoms today have been less.

I definitely do not want to go unmedicated though, as good as I think I feel now. I’m hoping that starting Invega around bedtime, and it being an extended release ap, I will feel better and less sedated during the day.

Wish me luck! I’m a day late, but I trust my pharmacist, so it was worth waiting a day.

Hey all,

I am now 25 1/2 hours in from starting my new medicine. Today was AWESOME. I was a little TOO energetic compared to normal, but I had fun and I did pretty good at work. It’s too early to tell if I’ll have side effects or not, but I only slept 8 hours last night, which is a huge improvement too.

I know I’m new around here, but in my opinion, at least for the first day, Invega is proving to be a good drug for me.
