Monday i have my initial deep transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy treatment. They’ll set up the helmet and do a brain mapping and figure out which settings to use. It’s supposed to help especially with depression, which I’ve had for awhile and it’s not responding to different antidepressants. I’ve been having suicidal ideation at times but it’s mostly been intrusive thoughts.
Anyways, they’re going to stimulate my brain with electromagnets and it’s supposed to help release dopamine and serotonin and improve neuroplasticity. I don’t know if it’ll work or not but it’s worth a try, i figure, since the insurance will pay for it.
That’s great news! I looked at it in the past, but never got an appointment. I have schizoaffective bipolar type and they said it’s not good if one has bipolar. I think it’s better than ECT, but still a lot of work.
Hope it goes well. I did rTMS about 80 treatments. It helped my mood but wasnt lasting. Id have to go every 2 weeks for it to be steady. I do think it improved my brain function overall though
