I started rTMS today for depression problems I have had lately, it’s alot different than I thought it would be and it comes to my aid when I need it the most.
The magnetic stimulation feels like a small shocking tap on the scalp, it’s going to help me regain some activity in my noggin from all the harassment I’m going through.
We’ll start again at 10 am monday in wisconsin, so it’s a bit of a commute but I get re embursed for the travel and tolls so it’s not as bad as you’d think.
VA knows me by first name there still even though I haven’t been on the ward for over a year, they used to see me alot and I’m glad to see that their machine is installed.
right now we’re working on just the depression area of the brain on the left middle side of my head, supposedly schizophrenia symptoms will move the magnets towards the back of your head but we haven’t gotten that far yet lol.
Well next thing I have to do is begin training and get serious about my shape again. I’ve looked away from the mirror and shut out the visual I had for a long time and now I’m seriously obese and need to do this for my life. I need to get out and workout again, and I hope that this will help me a bit.
Hey there bud, it’s a strong tap and it’s not even at the standard full setting yet, it’ll zap you and it feels like your scalp is being finger tapped or something. Quite strange but I’ll let you know if things begin to look up. They’re also requiring I drink and smoke less, go figure huh?
As for the expense part, I dunno because I’m working with the VA for the therapy. If you had health insurance and wanted to try it you may get full or partial coverage of the procedure costs. It’s a five week therapy.
Cool. It’s supposed to be better than ect. And less risky. I’ll give it a try. Not a vet but on disability.
Are the sessions long? How many days a week?
