Just found out that my Dads doctor does TMS

My Fathers psychiatrist does TMS - Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and Ketamine treatments in his office area.

Since I can’t tolerate antidepressants, I am kind of interested in receiving TMS treatments for my lingering depression.

Not ready for Ketamine! No way!

Not sure I want to get rid of my current psychiatrist though.

Anyone receive TMS treatments before?
Did it help with your depression?

@neveragain did tms and then said he recovered so much he didn’t need to come on here anymore.

Wow, good to know thanks!

I don’t know of anyone else here who tried it. But it’s supposedly fairly low risk.

I haven’t done TMS but I’ve had a ketamine treatment, it’s pretty intense. I haven’t had a major depressive episode since I’ve done it so maybe it works, idk.

Thanks @Ninjastar and @Leaf

my pdoc discussed that with me. They said you have to have a session each day for some period of time, which makes it impractical for many working people.

Yeah I think it’s over a 4 to 6 week period.

Is that something you can commit to?

ThaThat’s amazing. Is there a post in particular where he describes his experience? Would love to read a first hand account to see how it affected them.

the picture of someone sitting in the tms machine in the local mental health did not inspire me with much confidence but my doc said it does help some people.

the local clinic has a bunch of marketing material advertising all sorts of stuff. It was successful in getting me to ask about it but my doc doesn’t think I have serious enough depression to warrant talking about it further, which I am thankful for.

sitting in the machine with some contraption on your head might make for a good profile pic though

Honestly it might be difficult for me to commit my time to doing this.

Yeah, plus I’m afraid of the long term effects.

Maybe you should try the ketomine

I hear some scary stuff about it online.
I’m too chicken to try it!

You know it’s a little intense but you do have a Dr. with you and it does feel good to release all that…um…negativity. I don’t know how to describe it but you cleanse your soul in a way.

Wow it does sound intense but no thanks.
I think I’ll skip the ketamine.
