I’m on paxil and it’s causing me genital numbness and it’s really hard to climax. The things that turn me on doesn’t work. It’s frustrating because I need to get the load off.
I’m using the death grip and it’s still not working. My hand gets tired from holding and I give up.
I hope I can relax and fall asleep without feeling horny.
How do I reverse this? Or is it permanent?
Reversible, but takes time (at least for me it did)
I hate the fact that I was put on this drug without being warned by this frustrating problem. I’m suffering from blue balls.
Trazodone was really bad for me, so was fluoxetine. but trazodone was worse. erections were hella painful
I think most ADs have a side effect downstairs
That’s weird. Can’t they invent a drug that doesn’t have that side- effect?
I hope it’s reversible, because I can’t live like this.
I experienced this when I was in college. Had no wrection and was sufffering a lot.
Now I am fine but there is no good partner for having a decent sexual life.
I am just biting teeth and living life and seeking some affair outside.
It is not only the SSRI’s that can cause this. I was on tricyclic antidepressants ( imipramine and later switched to desipramine) when I was younger and I couldn’t feel any sexual pleasure at all - none whatsoever.
Ask for an atypical antidepressant. They do not have such side effects like SSRIS. A good one is mirtazipine and I read it does not have sexual dysfunction.
I agree with @Brim . When I had the same problem on a Mao-inhibitor (antidepressant) my psychiatrist added only 15 mg of MIrtazapine and it did help quite a bit.
Mirtazapine can be used as an add on to antidepressants to reduce the problem (according to my psych)
I’ve been back on Escitalopram for 5 days now and my libido is next to zero. I hope it improves.
Rexulti 3mg has really taken away my sex drive, but I still get turned on and get the feeling of building up a load. Once every five days I take half a viagra and get needed relief. I have experienced genital numbness on paliperidone, and the only thing that worked is to rub it out in the hot shower.
I am female and on Paxil. My sex drive is down but I can easily live with it. It’s not a big deal. Also, I am single. Sorry for you guys. That is a bummer.
