Soo…anyone been on both Olanzapine and Risperidone?

I was on Risperidone,5 mg had to up my meds, didn’t want to up dosage of the risperdal but needed stronger meds. Pdoc suggested olanzapine, 15 mg.

Now thinking of going back to risperdal (as I won’t really care about the prolactin side effects anymore, and the Olanzapine has started to stop working (apparently)

Anyone have any experience being on both Olanzapine and Risperidone?

I know I will likely need to still be on both (at least for a while, cause of insomnia ) but will 2.5 mg Olanzapine and 6 mg risperdal be more equivalent to 15 mg? Or less?

I mean, I know polypharmacy is to be avoided where possible but….

PS: don’t worry, I know to consult my doctor first and foremost about meds, yada yada, “don’t trust strangers on internet for med advice, etc

If anyone is on Olanzapine and risperdal, how are your negatives? And memory?

I am on 6mg Risperdal and its equivalent to 20mg Olanzapine according to online sources. I have been on 15mg Olanzapine but it didn’t work for psychosis. Negative symptoms were about the same. The only med that helped my negative symptoms is Abilify.

My cognitive symptoms were always the same regardless of meds, they got worse once I got sz and stayed the same, not getting worse and not getting better.

I went from 4 mgs of risperdal to 10 mg of zyprexa and it was a good move for me. I got raised prolactin on risperdal, gained a ton of weight and had issues like poverty of thought.

We are all different but it’s worth a shot for better function sometimes. I’ve done it quite a bit and sometimes it’s worked great. Other times it’s been a failure.

I was on Risperidole I 1994 16 my. But it didn’t do much for my positives. To be honest it was the absolute worst experience ever. After that they put me on Olanzapine and it worked wonders the first 6 moths but then the effectiveness decrease and after no improvement at 35 mg Zyprexa I got Clopixol added. Half a year later I quit Olanzapine because of massive weight gain.I never took those combined.

i’ve been on them both at different times not together
10 or 20mg olanzapine appetite that made me want to eat so much all the time enough to kill me
absolute torture
but on respiridone i felt great but was without a period for a year because of raised prolactin
but the med i’m on now is better for me with stability but i’m tired a lot
