Something that pisses me off (venting)

I hate renting from a ■■■■■■■ slumlord.

I live in a very old building, so old that it is heated by a boiler/radiator system. Our heat is just included in our rent.

The problem is, every spring the slumlord has maintenance shut down the boilers earlier than they should. Every ■■■■■■■ spring we have at least a couple weeks of cold apartments before it actually warms up outside. It’s currently 44 F (7 C) and I am cold in my own home. Normally I’m naked pretty much at all times when I’m at home, but not now. Right now I’m fully clothed, including jeans and a sweatshirt, I’m in bed with a blanket wrapped around my legs, and I am still cold. Makes me not want to get out of bed. The high temp is going to be in the low 50s F today.

Every fall, the slumlord waits as long as he can before turning the heat back on, too. Hopefully that won’t be a concern for me; hopefully I’ll be living elsewhere by then. Ugh.

This is not helping with the depression I am feeling right now.

Sorry for the long rant, but I’m pissed and depressed right now.

space heaters are relatively cheap

Phil is always cold, I’m always hot

we kept the house at 67 degrees all winter

maybe you can find a place that lets you control the heat and AC.

A couple hot water bottles might help

I had a decent-sized space heater, but I threw it away because anytime I used it, the plug would become extremely hot, and I did not want to risk an electrical fire. I shouldn’t need to run a space heater, though.

Just because it’s the ghetto doesn’t mean we should have to live like this. Some of my neighbors have children, and I’ll bet those children are either bundled up or feeling cold right about now. I hate my ■■■■■■■ slumlord. Hate that cheap ■■■■■■.

back when I was growing up, we had electric blankets,

do people even use those anymore?

I also had a heated water bed.

What state are you in? There are tenants rights organizations in almost every state that can help.

I had an electric blanket, not sure what happened to it. I know I have the cord and heat control dial, but I don’t know where the actual blanket is. Those things are kind of expensive to run, though not as expensive as running the oven non-stop with the oven door open. I’m tempted to do that right now. It’s an electric oven, so running it like that would not be dangerous, just expensive.

I don’t like to specify which state I live in, but I looked into this before and what he is doing is legal. It’s ■■■■■■■■, but it’s legal, at least it is in my state.

That sucks. Im sorry.

I have to pay for my heat, I like heat so it costs a lot, sorry you have to go through this, but I agree, I don’t trust space heaters

It was the same at my last apt. I guess that’s just how it is sometimes; some people just have to deal with ■■■■ like this, especially in ghetto apartments. It’s what we get for being poor, I guess.

I got scammed by a landlord lady regarding my deposit. I lost £450
