last night I noticed rash of bumps closely together and I have been putting Gold Bond on it and it seems to be going away but it scared me at first I thought it might be shingles. the bumps hurt when I touch the area so I just avoid touching it at all cost. anyways, maybe I shouldn’t have posted this?
Shingles (I’ve had it) will appear most commonly on your side, back, and front of your torso in a band that goes halfway around the body. They will itch and burn. If you’ve had the chickenpox then you have the shingles virus in you. Make a trip to see the doctor ASAP, because if it IS shingles, they can arrest it with 10 days worth of meds. Keep us posted.
I guess I will go to the doctor soon if the rash doesn’t go away. I have had this rash two days and it does not burn but only sensitive to the touch. I am praying it goes away but if it starts acting like shingles I will get to the doctor ASAP.
Have you tried a basic hydrocortisone cream? An over the counter one. I’ve found that better for rash than anything else.
Hope it resolves soon
thanks @etre I found some neosporin and put that on it. thanks for the idea !!
It could be an allergy. I found out I was allergic to latex whens the gloves at work gave me a rash on the back of my hand.
that’s what Angie said, but what would I only rub up against under my arm??? laundry detergent? hmmm…
Are you on a new med? or have you increased the dose of a med recently?
Deodorant? Antiperspirant?
I don’t use a deodorant. tmi I’m sure…haha…anyways, @Wave yes I recently doubled my antipsychotic !!
Where is the rash? it could be some sort of side effect/reaction, I would call the pdoc first and take it from there
I will call monday and check on that wave. thanks.
Your welcome Jukebox - you will be just fine
In my experience, and from what my doctor told me, there is no reason to expect it is a drug allergy because 1) You were already on the Prolixin and 2) The rash is not diffuse. In other words, it’s not all over the body. THAT is what a med rash looks like. Gotta disagree with my friend @Wave on that one. Start with your GP, a pdoc will have no idea what he’s looking at.
@anon40540444 that makes sense…I just wish my arm wouldn’t press against it and wipe off all the medication ointment I put on it…haha…oh my life at 52, what a grand Christmas!! haha…
My family doctor would probably send me to a dermatologist - this might happen to you.
They would know exactly what it is - but yeah going to your family doctor is a good place to start
Get an appt as soon as bloody possible. If you have shingles, you run a risk of post-herpetic neuralgia (residual pain from the shingles virus), and that is NOT something you want to live with for years upon years. Stop putting medication on it. You can aggravate a rash that way. Go to the ER if it’s bugging you that much. Hope that helps @jukebox.
