They also didn’t seem to be manic.
They were just obnoxious.
Even at my highest I was never so obnoxious.
I don’t think.

Yeah thats why i had trouble relating to other on a bipolar forum as majority of my issues were the psychosis stuff.
I don’t suffer with psychosis on risperidone but I had a hard time relating to them because none of them are experiencing negative symptoms.
They are busy with their lives, working, hobbies dating, marriage, going out to different places.
I don’t do much because of my negatives and I lead a very sedentary life.
I didn’t even fit with schizophrenics in mental hospital. I was paranoid in mental hospital last time because they put me on Zyprexa which never worked for me.
And now you know why the bipolar forums blow up and they end up here.
In my experience, many bipolar people are high functioning. My ex brother in law who is bipolar, for example, is a multiple rental property owner and is in very good financial shape. He is also very smart, has HVAC training and knows a lot about a lot of different things and regularly applies his knowledge.
I share the same sentiments as you, @Wave.
I can’t delete my post anymore - cause of forum rules.
Just deleting my thoughts on comparing Serious Mental Illnesses, and it was rude.
Id say bipolar gets the pass if there no psychosis.
Thats usually where the stigma hits is the psychosis or non functional states.
The high manic energy is almost praised if it involves productivity or achievements.
Silly world we live in
I would say there’s some stigma around bipolar. People will call people who are crazy bipolar. Or bipolar people crazy.
Yeah ive encountered that. I was negotiating a contract with one business owner and he was tellin me about this guy he works with hes like “he has bipolar hes nuts hes crazy”
Little did he know anything about me
I find this thread slightly insulting. But I went to a bipolar zoom meeting a while back and experienced none of those things. So that maybe why. Ive had psychosis alot but im said to be bipolar. I did in the past have a diagnosis of schizoaffective however. And before that schizophrenia. But they said i was misdiagnosed. I have noticed a degree of arrogance displayed in some people with bipolar but i think thats more about a lack of security in themselves. A deflection. But a lot of kindness and empathy despite the harsh experience of mental illness in others.
No I don’t know. Why is that?
Yeah, I think some of us forgot in this thread that bipolar people are still suffering. And it’s not fair to compare MI. There is definitely stigma surrounding bipolar.
I was given a few different diagnosis. My thoughts are it doesnt matter what the diagnosis is called just as long as you get the right help and treatment.
Ive always thought opaque or generalized names for mental illness would be better.
It more easily would detach the stigma
Like FHK-93267 instead of the name schizophrenia
@Wave , I had the same experience with the DBSA group, if thats the one you mean. But, I didn’t mind it because as a sza, bipolar type, I was a lot like everyone else there. I had the same symptoms they did: depression, suicidality, and mania (overtalkativeness and grandiosity). What they didn’t have was my almost constant thought insertions and thought broadcasting.
No matter what you call it, it would have stigma. Guaranteed.
Yea @LevelJ1 has bipolar and is annoying
Hey wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?
EHHHHJHHHHHHHHHHHJHJHHHHJJJ
I will agree to disagree.
