all this paperwork.

I don’t think so.
I think it’s like a progressive disability or disease.

I believe it could possibly lifelong.
It can also be heart breaking, every day.

Tell them lightning struck you and now you’re SZ-Free AND you have superpowers.

Seriously though, this is a chronic illness, they should know that

They’re supposed to check on your status every 3-7 years

O yea how does that work, what questions do they ask you. I thought ssdi is for life if you have schizophrenia. Why would they ask if your schizophrenia is better its a lifelong disease i dont understand.

Because sometimes people with schizophrenia go into remission or the find the right meds that take away symptoms. Even with being awarded total and permanent disability, they check you every 3 to 7 years. For me, it was after 3 years the last time they had me fill out a form.

They ask if you’ve worked and if you’re still disabled. They ask who you’ve seen for treatment and when you saw them.

That’s the short form most people get. There’s also a long form where they ask tons of questions. I’ve never gotten the long form one.

It’s a review to see if they still see me as disabled. They also get your medical records to review. I dong know what questions are on the long form review because I’ve never gotten it before. But I already told you the questions on the short form review

i just dont understand, schizophrenia is lifelong disease. why would they ask for a review. you need medications for life, obviously your disabled. how would afford medications if they disapprove ssdi.

Like I said, sometimes people with schizophrenia become able to work. If you’re able to work, you’re not disabled

You can still work parttime but still receive ssdi checks. thats my plan.

Good luck! My disability attorney told me to make less than $800/month and 15 hours or less per week because sometimes SSDI will say well, if you can work 20 hours, why can’t you work 40? It’s not an official rule, but it’s what my attorney said was my safest bet if I ever decide to return to work

I’ve gone full time many times, no SSDI, then no questions asked, got right back on it.

Found this online, seems relevant:

“If medical improvement is expected , SSA will review the claim in six to 18 months; if medical improvement is possible , SSA will review the claim every three years; if medical improvement is not expected , SSA will review the claim every five to seven years.”

When I went before a judge on an appeal to initially get my SSDI my lawyer told me: “Just tell the truth. But you can shade the truth in your favor.”
