Just got a disability review in the mail today

So another thing to worry about deadline wise. This is the first one I’ve gotten.

I don’t have a very clean pile of medical records neatly bound up so I don’t know how easy it will be to answer with all the relevant information but I’ll do my best.

I have a disability review in January. I have to meet with a doctor in person for a medical examination. I will also discuss that I want to go back to work. Good luck with your review!

What country are you guys in? I’ve been on disability for 17 years. I had a review 1 year after I was accepted into the program to confirm I had schizoprehnia and still needed the support, but I’ve never had a review or seen a panel of people or spoke to anyone from the government about renewing it over the past 16 years. It’s permanent unless I make too much money at my job.

I’m in Belgium. I get reviewed every 3 years as they haven’t given up on me yet. I’ve also mentioned in an email that I want assistance in finding work.

I’m in the US. I had a form to fill out 3 years after I got awarded disability asking when my last 3 dr appointments we’re and whether or not I worked. Haven’t heard from them since

I got one this year too. I was approved for Bipolar, not schizophrenia, and this was a big thing. I was like surprise, now I’ve got voices and visual hallucinations, I spent 3 years delusional, my life went into a spiral, and I’m more disabled than I’ve ever been or ever thought I would be.

I’m pretty sure it got renewed no problem, I sent it back like six months ago.

In the states getting disability for sz is pretty easy. You have to appeal by default. No one gets it initially.

Don’t know what it’s like in Belgium tho. Your doctors don’t have medical records they could send you?

i used to get review regularly too but the last person i saw made some note that it’s chronic and that i don’t have to come on reviews anymore. I was glad for that…

You have to take your medical records and a recent report from your psychiatrist to the ‘advising doctor of social security’. They ask you questions in the meeting which lasts 15-20 min. Based on that they write a report to the General Disability Council which has to approve your case for a certain amount of time. But I guess when they don’t see any chance of you improving you don’t have to come anymore like @lekkerhondje .

Mine got delayed to Jan 2023 due to Covid-19

My CPN wrote a compelling letter to them previously.

I think if you have been awarded before, an appeal if the decision doesn’t go well I would hope should be in your favour, as they will have to prove things have changed significantly.

To be honest, if you can get off disability and try out a career, there is no shame in that

Sometimes I get frustrated with the attitude of some here towards working

It really is a warped view of the world.

Working has many benefits if you consider your choices carefully.
