So my SSDI was taken away

I got a review earlier this year and completed it on time and everything. Now this month I have received a letter saying my disability will be taken away without giving a reason. So my dad called up social security and asked them what happened. Well after some research they got my 3 year review and it says in the system they sent me something that I needed to respond to in some time period like 10 days. Well I never got anything and the social security records show they never sent anything to me. Now my disability has been taken away. So a letter was sent to the people that do the disability reviews and now the ball is in there court on how to proceed. So far a week and no answers and I got a bill today that I need to pay 500 dollars to continue my Medicare.

What a headache. I’ve never done anything wrong. I am a victim of government incompetence.

I’m amazed that they are that rigid.
Stuff like that happens here, too, of course. And I am equally amazed at the government incompetence here.
Stuff like this shouldn’t happen. You’d think it would be easier to avoid.
I hope they fix this soon and compensate you for your troubles.

I’m so sorry this happened. That’s scary that it can get taken away so easily.

This is scary. I’m gonna give my local office a call and tell them whats up and ask if there’s any outstanding forms I need to fill.

How often do people tend to do a review? I don’t remember the last time I did one.

man, such incompetence…I would be outraged…

So sorry this happened to you, I really hope it all gets straightened out.

The reviews take place every 1, 3, or 7 years if I remember right.

Yeah, I’ve dealt with Social Security for many years. Most of the stuff I can handle but on the complicated stuff my family will help me too. My parents used to come with me on most of my visits but now since my parents passed away, my older sister has sat in on my appointments.

I would go to the office and not leave until it’s resolved. You need to make sure they have the right address for you though so this doesn’t happen again.

I have never had a medical review. They were scheduled for every 5 to 7 years and haven’t been on it that long.

I did, however, recently have a work review and they sent me a letter that said I was still disabled and a month later they sent me another letter that said I wasn’t disabled anymore and they had my work months wrong. I sent them a letter in response and they sent me another letter that says I am still disabled again but it didn’t say anything about when my next review would be so I will have to keep an eye out for it.

I hope you get this straightened out soon. Plan to spend all day at the office if you do go in though. They are very slow.

Well it took contacting SS 3 to 4 times with no response over a month then going to the SS office in person and having to redo my disability review and fill out a bunch of forms. The reason they say my disability was taken away was administrative incompetence at the Baltimore office.

Well the good news is I am finally back in the system, got my money today and am relieved. I think what may have happened is someone at SS looked at my facebook and saw that I am a Trump supporter and decided to pull a stunt and take away my money. That’s my guess but who knows.

@Coldcomfort. You’re original award letter will tell you whether it’s every year, 3-5 years, or 7 years for the review. Most people are reviewed every 3-5 years.
