I really donāt want to, that place was awful for my mental health, but desperation is setting in.
I went to town just a little while ago, stopped by the gas station; I needed gas and cigarettes. The manager was working, so I talked to him about it. He said heāll talk to the owner and let me know. The owner and I go back 15 years, Iāve worked for him on and off for a long time, so Iām sure he will give me my job back. I left on good terms.
Damn it, I donāt want to do this, but I canāt survive, much less save up money, on teaching pay alone.
If you really didnt like working at the gas station, I would look for another line of work. As far as I know the economy is good in a lot of places. Should be lots of jobs out there.
Thing is, though, that I know how to do the gas station job, plus theyāre fine with it being potentially very short-term.
I am a very slow learner; I frustrate new coworkers and trainers because I have to be shown how to do things maybe ten times before I remember how to do them on my own. Iāve been fired from a few jobs for not learning quickly enough.
Idk, I just donāt see other feasible solutions to my money problems. I applied to be a ācultivation technicianā at a cannabis grow operation, thatās something I know how to do (unless itās hydroponics), but I never heard back. I could do a job like that, but there are not that many of those jobs around. I should keep looking, I guess.
Hopefully the gas station can be just short-term, though.
What about something like an afternoon or night shift at a Dunkin Donuts? That was my first job and it was pretty chill. The mornings are crazy though.
We donāt have anything like that here. The closest we have is Tim Hortonās. Iād have to be available way early in the morning, and thatās just too difficult for me. Idk, Iāll look on Indeed again, maybe tonight, and see whatās out there at the moment.
Are you talking about a late night shift? Like the time of day when very few people come around? I feel like that would be nice, as long as itās safe.
Yeah, midnights, but you might be surprised by how busy that gas station is overnight. Itās the only thing in that part of town that is open 24 hours.
