So, it looks like I will be going back to work at the gas station šŸ˜£

I really donā€™t want to, that place was awful for my mental health, but desperation is setting in.

I went to town just a little while ago, stopped by the gas station; I needed gas and cigarettes. The manager was working, so I talked to him about it. He said heā€™ll talk to the owner and let me know. The owner and I go back 15 years, Iā€™ve worked for him on and off for a long time, so Iā€™m sure he will give me my job back. I left on good terms.

Damn it, I donā€™t want to do this, but I canā€™t survive, much less save up money, on teaching pay alone.

If you really didnt like working at the gas station, I would look for another line of work. As far as I know the economy is good in a lot of places. Should be lots of jobs out there.

Thing is, though, that I know how to do the gas station job, plus theyā€™re fine with it being potentially very short-term.

I am a very slow learner; I frustrate new coworkers and trainers because I have to be shown how to do things maybe ten times before I remember how to do them on my own. Iā€™ve been fired from a few jobs for not learning quickly enough.

Idk, I just donā€™t see other feasible solutions to my money problems. I applied to be a ā€œcultivation technicianā€ at a cannabis grow operation, thatā€™s something I know how to do (unless itā€™s hydroponics), but I never heard back. I could do a job like that, but there are not that many of those jobs around. I should keep looking, I guess.

Hopefully the gas station can be just short-term, though.

What about something like an afternoon or night shift at a Dunkin Donuts? That was my first job and it was pretty chill. The mornings are crazy though.

We donā€™t have anything like that here. The closest we have is Tim Hortonā€™s. Iā€™d have to be available way early in the morning, and thatā€™s just too difficult for me. Idk, Iā€™ll look on Indeed again, maybe tonight, and see whatā€™s out there at the moment.

Iā€™d hate to see a lack of confidence get the best of you. If you try you may find a job that you can do and like.

Are you talking about a late night shift? Like the time of day when very few people come around? I feel like that would be nice, as long as itā€™s safe.

Yeah, midnights, but you might be surprised by how busy that gas station is overnight. Itā€™s the only thing in that part of town that is open 24 hours.

Have you considered starting your own business? I am in the process of setting one up on Amazon.
