So, it looks like I will be going back to work at the gas station 😣

I really don’t want to, that place was awful for my mental health, but desperation is setting in.

I went to town just a little while ago, stopped by the gas station; I needed gas and cigarettes. The manager was working, so I talked to him about it. He said he’ll talk to the owner and let me know. The owner and I go back 15 years, I’ve worked for him on and off for a long time, so I’m sure he will give me my job back. I left on good terms.

Damn it, I don’t want to do this, but I can’t survive, much less save up money, on teaching pay alone.

If you really didnt like working at the gas station, I would look for another line of work. As far as I know the economy is good in a lot of places. Should be lots of jobs out there.

Thing is, though, that I know how to do the gas station job, plus they’re fine with it being potentially very short-term.

I am a very slow learner; I frustrate new coworkers and trainers because I have to be shown how to do things maybe ten times before I remember how to do them on my own. I’ve been fired from a few jobs for not learning quickly enough.

Idk, I just don’t see other feasible solutions to my money problems. I applied to be a ā€œcultivation technicianā€ at a cannabis grow operation, that’s something I know how to do (unless it’s hydroponics), but I never heard back. I could do a job like that, but there are not that many of those jobs around. I should keep looking, I guess.

Hopefully the gas station can be just short-term, though.

What about something like an afternoon or night shift at a Dunkin Donuts? That was my first job and it was pretty chill. The mornings are crazy though.

We don’t have anything like that here. The closest we have is Tim Horton’s. I’d have to be available way early in the morning, and that’s just too difficult for me. Idk, I’ll look on Indeed again, maybe tonight, and see what’s out there at the moment.

I’d hate to see a lack of confidence get the best of you. If you try you may find a job that you can do and like.

Are you talking about a late night shift? Like the time of day when very few people come around? I feel like that would be nice, as long as it’s safe.

Yeah, midnights, but you might be surprised by how busy that gas station is overnight. It’s the only thing in that part of town that is open 24 hours.

Have you considered starting your own business? I am in the process of setting one up on Amazon.
