Smooch is getting her ESA Letter!

Smooch is getting a letter to be my Emotional Support Animal!!! I’m so excited! I still need her used to motorized wheelchairs and elevators, plus different types of doors. Otherwise, she’s such a confident little thing. Not fully housetrained, so I’ll watch where we go, not stay too long, and have supplies just in case (Hardware stores, here we come!). When she’s one, she can get her AKC CGC, then maybe (small chance) if she’s of the right temperament, she’d be a good Psych Service Dog. I have a trainer, a behaviorist, and an awesome vet. I am hoping we can pull it off. If not, ESA, unless she gets barky or too lazy. Fingers crossed, but thought I’d share the good news!

Congratulations. I need my dogs with me at all times.

I got my 2 yo dog registered as a psychiatric service dog so he can be with me at all times. Though both have helped bring me back from episodes. They are well behaved and trained to not bark in public spaces and have not been a problem anywhere.

Ghost isn’t a public kind of dog. He helps keep me on the real world by only barking when something strange or unusual is happening. No barking at mailmen, trashmen, or lawncare group, though. So if I think I hear the men downstairs but he doesn’t bark, I know it’s not real. It’s very helpful to have him do that.

Smooch likes everyone and everything. She has the most soulful eyes I’ve ever seen on a dog.
